The primary purpose of this scan is to confirm viability of an intrauterine pregnancy.

• Transvaginal scan may be required - As experts in pregnancy ultrasound our sonographers are highly skilled and competent in both trans-abdominal and trans-vaginal ultrasound. While most ultrasound scans are performed over the tummy, sometimes in early pregnancy, trans-vaginal scanning is necessary and allows us to give immediate reassurance and exclude complications such as ectopic pregnancy. Your Sonographer will discuss and explain this at the time of your scan.

- If you are unsure of your LMP or have irregular cycles we advise that you book two weeks following your first positive pregnancy test.

• This scan is for ladies over 18 years of age
